Pollinator Garden After Tree Removal: Turning Open Space Into Habitat

After two trees were removed from this client’s yard, they were left wondering what to do with the space. The area had become difficult to mow around, and they wanted to turn it into something more purposeful and beautiful. Inspired by a patch of volunteer daffodils already growing, they decided that a pollinator garden after tree removal would be the perfect solution.

Turning an Open Space Into Habitat

Stumps are often possible to work around and can fit beautifully within a pollinator garden. The stumps become their own feature inviting fungi and mosses to grow while providing a landing place for birds. They also make a great surface for a water source, bird feeder, or wildlife camera. We created a layered garden with shrubs and perennials to provide color throughout the growing season and block the stumps from view, creating a secluded spot for pollinators and wildlife looking for a bit of rest.

Seeing Potential After Tree Removal

Losing trees can sometimes feel like losing an important part of the landscape. However, it can also create new opportunities.

What was once an awkward area to mow around is now a vibrant pollinator garden that adds beauty, seasonal color, and ecological value to the property.

A new garden does not always require a major landscape overhaul. Sometimes it simply means reimagining a space and discovering the potential that is already there.
