We are a small, local landscaping, nursery and retail business in Howard County, focusing on native plantings and plant care with ecologically conscious practices. We maintain landscapes through hand weeding, pruning, edging and mulching (we do not offer lawn care services). We also install various types of landscapes as well as some natural style hardscaping such as flagstone paths, dry laid flagstone patios and small fieldstone stacked walls. Some of the types of landscapes we install include pollinator/wildlife gardens, woodland gardens, rain gardens and conservation landscapes. Additionally, we run a native plant nursery and a nature inspired, garden and goods store.

Weekend Retail Associate & Houseplant Care

This is a weekend retail associate position with a focus on houseplant care, with retail customer service. Position will be the product knowledge expert for a wide variety of houseplants and products for sale in the shop. The ideal candidate will have previous retail experience, a passion for houseplants, effectively manage the care and watering of the houseplants and other store merchandise. Must be a self-motivated, independently working individual who is organized and good with customer service. Hourly rate of $18-21 depending on experience.

Expected Hours

Thursdays 9-6pm

Fridays 9-7pm

Saturdays 9-6pm

Sundays 9-6pm

Responsibilities

Houseplant Department

  • Daily watering and plant health checks
  • Pest scouting and treatment
  • Receiving and processing plant shipments
  • Merchandising and display maintenance
  • Recommending replenishment needs

Customer Experience

  • Assist customers with plant selection and care
  • Provide repotting and troubleshooting advice
  • Ring sales through Square
  • Maintain store appearance

Retail Operations

  • Stocking and pricing merchandise
  • Opening/closing duties as assigned
  • Support classes and events as needed

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a working knowledge of common and some uncommon houseplants and their preferred conditions.
  • Must be able to lift from the ground.
  • Must be able to be on your feet for long periods.
  • Must have your own reliable transportation.
  • Must be on time for work, detail oriented, listen to instructions, and behave professionally.

Landscaper/Horticulturist- Installation/Maintenance Crew Member

This is a full-time, 40 hour/week position. The hours are Monday thru Thursday from 7AM-5PM, and Fridays for weather make-up days. This position offers an hourly range of $18-21/hr (dependent upon experience), and includes benefits.

Qualifications:

  • High School or equivalent (required)

  • Driver’s license (required)

  • Ability to lift 75 lbs and work in various weather conditions (required)

  • General landscaping experience (highly preferred)

  • Horticulture field experience (highly preferred)

  • Horticulture education (highly desirable)

  • Trailer and large truck driving experience/ability to train (desirable)

  • CBLP (desirable)

We are currently seeking candidates who share our ideals and company values to fill maintenance and installation crew positions and crew leadership positions. Ideal applicants are professional, team players who possess a horticulture background either through experience or education and have general, working knowledge of native plants and landscaping.  Candidates must be punctual, dependable and possess a positive attitude.

Although previous horticulture experience or education is preferred, we will consider all candidates and can train the right individual.

General Crew Duties Include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing a high standard of customer service at all times

  • Following the direction of crew leaders for maintaining and installing landscapes

  • Weeding existing gardens

  • Pruning as needed

  • Edging and mulching

  • Clearing vegetation and sod removal for new garden installations

  • Planting and transplanting of trees, shrubs and perennials in existing or new landscapes

  • Use and care of necessary hand tools (provided upon hire) and light machinery used for maintaining and installing landscapes

  • Natural stone hardscaping duties
