For a recent project in Bowie, Maryland, our team transformed an existing lawn into an inviting outdoor living space. The design features a Pennsylvania fieldstone wall, an irregular flagstone patio and pathway, and a native pollinator garden.
Creating an Outdoor Living Space with Natural Stone and Native Plants
The homeowners wanted a welcoming garden space where they could relax and enjoy their landscape. Our design incorporated natural stonework to define the space. Surrounding native plantings soften the edges and connect the patio to the garden.
The irregular Pennsylvania flagstone patio and pathway provide a natural, timeless look. The fieldstone wall adds structure and dimension to the garden.
Our crew especially enjoyed the stonework on this project! From patios and pathways to stepping stones, garden walls, and ponds, natural stone complements native landscapes beautifully.

A Low-Maintenance Native Pollinator Garden
We selected low-maintenance native plants to provide seasonal color, texture, and year-round interest.
Native plants offer more than just beauty. When chosen for the site’s growing conditions, they can require less maintenance. They also provide valuable food and habitat for pollinators, birds, and other wildlife.
One of our favorite moments was seeing pollinators visiting the site before the plants were even in the ground!
As the garden matures, native plantings will fill in around the stonework. The result will be an increasingly lush and inviting space for both homeowners and wildlife.
