A Bay Safe Garden In Shady Side, MD

Bay safe garden in Shady Side, MD. A client reached out wanting a garden installed in the backyard near their dock and to ensure that the plants installed would positively impact the environment. To that we said ‘Absolutely!’
Our crew established the new bed and removed the existing turf grass. They laid down a natural stone border along the edge to keep mulch from running off during storms. Then they placed and planted a variety of native shrubs and perennials, such as Hibiscus moscheutos, Phlox paniculata ‘Jeana’, Cornus sericea ‘Arctic Fire Yellow’, and Rosa palustris.

Our client sent us an updated photo of the bed and everything is doing great! Our Project Manager, Alex went out for a site visit last fall and the crew installed the garden in late March. When the crew installed the plants were dormant or just beginning to emerge. It is a common misconception that you can only plant in the spring or the fall. Anytime the ground isn’t frozen is a great time to plant!
