Permeable Paver Patio: Before and After

We recently installed a patio and walkway for a client. This patio is special in that it is constructed of permeable pavers. This means that the stones used in the patio are permeable, allowing water to flow through into the ground instead of creating puddles on the patio and the surrounding area. This helps with managing stormwater runoff and filtering the stormwater. This patio and walkway ended up being 290 square feet. We also built up the stone walls along the garden bed and along the side of the patio and walkway. This client also had a rain garden installed, which further helped filter the runoff before the runoff makes its way to various waterways, and eventually to the Chesapeake Bay.

Here is a before picture of the area where the patio and walkway was installed.
